WELCOME!

Our names are Annie and Andrea.
We are both ABC, otherwise known as American-born Chinese.
At the time of founding, we are high school students nearing the end of our junior year.
Polychromatic Prose Translations was created due to an interest in reading Chinese literature. It soon became a cross-cultural project with the mission of seeking multicultural contact. By contributing resources to the literary translation community, we hope that others may not only find themselves entertained but also gain a greater understanding of the beauty of diversity in literature. Ultimately, we simply wish to share our experience reading novels with others so that they may explore the same wonders.
TRANSLATOR
Annie's family is from Sichuan Province and she is fluent in both Mandarin and the Sichuan dialect.
Annie has studied the Chinese language for over a decade.
Although her given name is 安妮, she recently changed it to 安霓.

EDITOR
Andrea's family is from Shanghai and she is fluent in both Mandarin and Shanghainese.
Andrea loves Chinese history and Chinese literature, especially Classical Chinese poetry.
Andrea's courtesy name is 懿雯.
雨 is the character for "rain" and reflects the many rainy days we have passed while curled up inside with a book. As we are both from the Greater Seattle Area, this sub-character also acknowledges our city. Therefore, our logo is the character of 雨 emblazoned upon a book.
The name of our page is inspired by the final character of each of our names. In addition to having 雨å—头 in common, both 霓 and 雯 connote "rainbow." We decided to create an alliteration with "polychromatic" and "prose." Combined, these words can be interpreted similarly to "purple prose."
